Through the M.O.R.E. fund (Moorehead Opportunity to Rise and Evolve), Round Room CEO Scott Moorehead and his wife, Julie Moorehead, Philanthropy Advisor of Round Room Gives, donated $500,000 to the Journey Home capital campaign. Friends of Indy Animals created the Journey Home capital campaign and pledged to raise $7 million to support the city’s efforts to build the new shelter.
There is a great need for a new shelter to replace IACS’s existing one – their current building was built to hold between 140-160 animals, but they usually operate beyond capacity with 200+ animals at any given time. On top of space issues, the existing building is falling apart, and it was built on a landfill next to the city incinerator so it’s not publicly accessible.
Plans for a new building in Indianapolis’s Near Eastside include upgrades like an on-site medical facility, improved living conditions for the animals, a public dog park, and a food pantry. This new location will bring a community resource into a currently vacant lot and will serve areas with some of the highest animal care needs in the city.

Animal rescue is a cause near and dear to Julie, an owner of multiple rescue dogs. Also, when the new Round Room office opened in Fishers, IN, in 2021, $500,000 was donated to the Hamilton County Humane Society on behalf of the Round Room family. Round Room employees have continued the partnership through regular volunteer events at the organization, helping with routine facility maintenance and animal care.
